Puzzle Piece Augur 4: Integration

Enterprise

Augur 4 is designed with enterprise system integration in mind, to best complement the rest of your infrastructure. It can both mesh with an existing enterprise as an aggregator for downstream tools (in-house, NetCool ISMs, HP Openview, etc.), and/or as a pre-processor for upstream tools (NetCool, Clarify, etc.).

Launch Pad Menus

Augur's main application window (the Launch Pad) has customizable menus. While the Lauch Pad is Augur's hub, it may be used as a convenient hub to launch related in-house applications (e.g. Event Search Tool, WebTop, etc.). Since menu changes are automatically distributed to clients, there's no need for end-user installation/update headaches.

Context Menus

Several of Augur's real-time viewers allow you to select alerts, or time-ranges. As you would expect, the associated context menu (a.k.a. right-click popup menu) will act on the selections. You can add your own menu choices here, to pass information about the current selections to your server-side command. For example, you could launch in-house tools using the selected time range, element name, alert ID, etc. to clear trouble tickets, open other reporting tools, etc.

Handlers

The Handler API provides hooks to trigger external actions. Handlers can perform element correlation, paging suppression during maintenance, special treatment for special alerts, interface with a trouble ticket system, etc.

Messengers

Augur's messengers are usually configured to send alerts to users, with many scheduling and filtering controls. The flexibility of those same controls lend them well to selectively exporting alert information. An Augur Shell Messenger can forward select alerts/clears to Clarify, or maybe select outage-related alerts could be written to a log for simplifying downtime reports. (We can also write custom messengers, if requested.)

Socket Station

Socket Station provides new input options for Augur: SNMP traps, Syslog, socket-servers, UDP packets, files, etc. Provides an alternative to NetCool probes

The socket-server input option makes it easier and more reliable for in-house tools to forward real-time data to Augur. Learn more
